Why Shouldn't I Hire a Lawyer?
Deciding to hire a lawyer can be a tough decision. Whether you are getting divorced, recently arrested, want to start a business, or any number of things, a lawyer may be able to assist you.
Before discussing why you should hire a lawyer there are few reasons not to hire a lawyer.
To "Win" The first being to win. A lawyer is not this mythical creature that can automatically change everything and "win" your case for you. Your attorney is there to assist you in making your case better. If your case involves you going to court nothing is guaranteed. Most attorneys have stories where they thought they would "win" and they lost, those same attorneys will have stories where they thought they would lose and they somehow "won."
To Lie An attorney will not lie for you. No matter the case your lawyer is doing his job. A lawyers job is often to advocate for you. This does not mean to lie for you. An attorney can lose their license and their job if they are caught lying, even if it is for their client. Your case, no matter how important it is to you, is not worth a lawyer's license.
Empty threats Under the same line of thinking for lying, you should not hire a lawyer just because you want to scare or threaten someone if you have no intention of pursuing your legal rights.
